Layout using NEW Shimmerz Colors | Missy Whidden

Hey, friends!  Happy New Year!  Missy here, and I have a fun layout to share today using many of the NEW Shimmerz colors.  I began this page with the left over butterflies I had on my Cameo cutting mat after using the Moths Background by Paige Evans.  I used the outline on a different layout, and I couldn't just throw these guys away.  So I decided to paint them, and I'm so glad I did!

I used several new gold shades as well as a pink and a red.  The common theme here is GOLD.  They all have gold powders mixed in, so they not only dry a pretty color, but they have gold shimmer.  I used the new Vibez Pink Moscato and Rose Gold Red as well as Shimmerz Christmas Cheer, Moulin Rouge and Moonrock.  I also used Blingz Gold N Roses.  I did add in some Inklingz Miner Miner 49er at the end.  I think these colors made a fantastic color scheme.

Look at this...can you see the gold glimmer and shimmer?  This was VERY easy to do.  All I did was literally spray them or paint them.  The colors did all the work!  I glued down all the butterflies and machine stitched through some of them with gold thread.  Here at the top behind the butterflies, I used some of the Blingz Gold N Roses with some plastic packaging to get some subtle color down.

I think I could look at this all day!  This yellow color is the Shimmerz Christmas Cheer.  The deep pink is the Vibez Pink Moscato.

I created a photo strip of some silly photos of my daughter and arranged the butterflies above it.  I sorted through my stash and pulled out a Freckled Fawn wood veneer and some Crate Paper vellum die cuts that matched well.  I stamped the rest of my title below the photo using the Crate Paper Oasis stamps and a gold ink pad.

I went pretty simple on embellishing since the butterflies were already doing a lot for the design.  I did add some vellum and a piece of pink patterned paper under the photo as well as some adhesive foam for dimension.

My favorite thing about using butterflies like this is you can bend up the wings and create some awesome dimension.

One more close-up just because they're gorgeous :)

This was SO much fun to make!  You have to try out the new colors.  There are even more that I didn't use on this page...some greens and blues, so go check them out in the store!  Be sure to check out my process video here to see how I created this and get a closer look at the paint colors.

Thank you for stopping by, and have a great day!

Grateful Scrapbook Layout | Suzanna Stein

Hey there crafty friends! Suzanna here, and I am so excited to share my first project here on the Shimmerz blog!

For this project, I used a mixture of Shimmerz products. I knew I wanted to use some vibrant pieces from Felicity Jane, and had the perfect colored products to go along with them!

I started by adding a few sprays of Vibez Rolling in the Hay and Spritz Chance of Rain to the background. I love the textured look this gave, and how well the colors popped against my white card stock. Then, after layering the papers behind my photo, I chose two shades of Texturez to use: Artie Choked and Crushed Coral.

Using a small art sponge, I dabbed the Texturez in a cloud shape where my photo would be going. I wanted them to show around the photo, and feel as though they created a mat. Then, I adhered my photo and embellished with floral elements.

To make the layout feel whole, I added a little of both Texturez colors to the top corner, diagonal from my photo and embellishment cluster.

Once everything was adhered, I went back with Spritz Chance of Rain, Vibez Rolling in the Hay, and Coloringz No Yoking. With each of these colors, I splattered messy drips in a diagonal line across the layout. I love the way this tied everything together.

These colors were so perfect for this layout, and really made the photo pop! I love the vibrant colors, mixed with the bold black title and date. The messy feeling of the background is balanced perfectly by the clean layers I used behind my photo. I love the way this layout turned out!

I can't wait to share another fun project with you later this month! Thank you for stopping by!

Crafty Friends Card Set | Rubeena I.

Hello, Rubeena here from A Rare Ruby with my very first post as new Creative Design Team member! Today, I’ll be sharing a set of cards I created that focus on the gorgeous Dazzlerz and Textures, which are shimmering dimensional pastes. Typically, pastes are known to be used with stencils and mixed media projects. After a year-plus long hiatus from crafting, however, I decided to use the pastes as "paints." I will list all supplies at the end of the blog post to make it easiest for everyone.

First, I picked out an assortment of colors that I thought I would play with.

I used watercolor brushes to color rose die-cuts and A2 size watercolor paper. When I first started coloring, I wasn't sure what kind of cards or layouts I would create. I let the ideas come to me while crafting all day. Once all the pieces were dry, I die-cut some large words from an alphabet die set in white, black and gold glitter cardstock. I also heat embossed various sentiments perfect for crafty friends! Then, I set about making as many cards as I could since I had a lot of pieces created. I even created a shaker card!

Rubeena_Shimmerz_Jan12_ Rubeena_Shimmerz_Jan12_ Rubeena_Shimmerz_Jan12_ Rubeena_Shimmerz_Jan12_ You'll notice the textured look as well as shimmers on pretty much every card! These pastes made me feel like a true artist, letting my creative juices flow. To get a lighter look, I simply added water when I created some of these backgrounds.

"Celebrate" TN Layout Featuring Custom Painted Paper & Embellishments | Nicole Kerr

 Hello Shimmerz Fans!
Nicole here and today I have a travelers notebook layout to share with you featuring hand painted papers and embellishments using Shimmerz paint and mists!
Here's a look at my final layout:

I wanted to do a non-traditional Christmas layout, so I chose to paint random gifts in different colors and sizes in teal, green and peach. I used Coloringz in Oh say Can U Sea, Coloringz in Peachy Keen  and Inklingz Honey Do List as my palette. Once they dried, I used a silver/grey glitter gel pen to draw on the ribbons, bows and patterns.  I also painted a cluster of gifts together to use as an embellishment piece.

I used a few blank labels from my stash to do my journaling on, along with other bits of embellishments and puffy stickers for my title. I didn't add much more to the right side of the page since my focus was on the paper and gifts that I had painted.  On the left side, I kept it more on the simple side since the right side was so busy.  I added in a few more hand painted gifts and a few matching embellishments from my stash again.

And here's a look at my final layout again....

Thanks so much for joining me today!
I hope I have inspired you to create your own papers and embellishments for your layouts!

Cheer Captured | Adrienne Alvis

Hello crafty friends! I'm here with a festive layout that I created using one of my favorite holiday photos and some beautiful Shimmerz paints

To begin, I used a piece of white card stock and some Acritonez, which is a self-priming acrylic paint with a matte finish, in "3 Sheets to the Wind" as a base for my design and to help the Vibez and Coloringz colors pop! I used a piece of leftover packaging to create the design that you can see below...

I chose the Coloringz, which are non-shimmering, in "Pretty in Pink" and "Oh Say Can U Sea" because the colors coordinated so well with the patterned paper that I chose for my layout! I also added some Vibez in "Cold As Ice", (which is currently unavailable) because it was the perfect shade of blue and added some shimmer to my page.

As you can see in the photo above, I also added some Texturez shimmering, dimensional paste in Crushed Coral to my design by spreading it over a stencil that matched the design of the patterned paper that I chose to use.

I completed my design by adding a title to my photo and by placing some glittery pops of red around my page. I really love incorporating non-traditional Christmas colors on my holiday layouts!

I hope everyone had a fabulous and festive holiday season! Thank you so much for joining me today!
